This is a double cutaway, solid body Silvertone guitar made by Danelectro of Neptune, NJ in 1965. It features a sunburst-red finish, two single-coil lipstick tubes style pickups, a tortoise shell pickguard on which the electronics are mounted, a two-way adjustable metal whammy bridge with a rosewood saddle, four black plastic knobs with silver tops, a selection switch, two metal strap pins, and a circular metal plate on the back that gives access to the spring for the whammy bar. This is the higher-end two pick-up model that usually comes with an amp-in-case. This particular guitar may be an earlier model with a regular original hard shell case. This is the much more rare version as indicated by the tortoise-shell pick guard; they usually had white pick guards. It's one of the last Danelectro's made for Sears.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
This Silvertone guitar is in good condition and it is 100% original. There are a few spots of wear on the front, back and sides of the guitar. A previous owner attempted to touch-up the paint on some of the finish wear on the area under where the strings connect to the tailpiece/bridge and on the bottom of the guitar. There is also a slight crack in the wood on the treble side of the body.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The six, inline, closed-back, metal skate-key tuners are in very good working condition.
The bolt-on neck is in very good shape. It is straight with fast action. The fretboard is rosewood with virtually no wear. The 21 frets are all in very good condition and do not buzz. Circular plastic/mother-of-pearl fret markers on both the fretboard and side of the neck. There is one small spot of wear to the finish on the lower treble side of the back of the neck. The headstock, featuring a silkscreened logo has some paint wear along the edges. The neck is kept straight with metal rods.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The two single coil lipstick tube style pickups sound great and will work well for surf, blues, punk, rock, country and a whole lot more. The neck pickup has a full, rich, clean, clear sound. The bridge pickup is clean, bright and full with a bit of twang. There are four black plastic knobs with silver tops and three way toggle switch. Each pickup has a volume and tone control and the toggle selects the neck, bridge or both pickups. All of the electronics are in very good working order.
