SILVERTONE 1479
made in 1967 - HARMONY

Silvertone -Harmony-made - 1479 solid body electric guitar with 1750 whammy bar, double cutaway 2 pu, tobaccoburst circa 1967 This is a solid body, double cutaway, double pickup, tobaccoburst Silvertone made by Harmony of Chicago on November 22, 1967. The guitar's body shape is similar to that of a Fender Jaguar. This guitar features two gold DeArmond pickups, a white pickguard on which all of the electronics are mounted, an adjustable metal, roller-style bridge, two metal strap pins, and a 1750 style tremolo tailpiece. This 1479 has some wear that one would expect from a guitar that is about fifty years old but it is in good condition and 100% original, except for replaced strap pins. As a matter of fact, the wear gives the guitar that hip, used look that some desire and even attempt to recreate artificially. This beauty is the real deal. You can get that cool authentic, vintage look with wonderfully working electronics and a fretboard that's almost like new. With its great fast action and terrific tone, this guitar plays like a dream. It includes an original hardshell case. Get this instrument while you can.

CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original except for the replaced strap pins and it is in good condition for its age. There are about three spots of wear on the front. The sides and bottom have a lot of finish wear particularly on the bass side. The back bottom shows some significant wear but on the rest of the back, there are just a few spots of finish wear. There is also some pitting and rust on the bottom of the tailpiece. This guitar has had a long rock and roll history; however, it is still beautiful after approximately fifty years. It plays wonderfully and sounds great!

TUNERS:
The tuners, opened-back, 6 inline with plastic buttons are in very good working condition. They have taken on some tarnish over the years but, all of the tuners are smooth and hold the pitch well.

NECK:
The neck is in good shape. It is a straight, bolted-on, neck with circular mother-of-pearl inlays on an ebonized fretboard, 20 frets, and a 24" scale. There is some finish wear along the sides of the neck and a tiny bit at the bottom of the neck. The frets are in fine shape. The headstock, featuring a vertical silkscreened Silvertone logo, has some wear along the edges. The neck is kept straight with dual steel reinforcement rods. With its fast action, the neck feels fanstastic under your fingers.

PICKUPS:
The two gold colored single coil, DeArmonds are very clean, strong and full sounding. The bridge pickup has a clean, potent, twangy but warm tone. The neck pickup has a potent, clean bell-like tone. This guitar is perfect for blues, rock, jazz, funk, or rockabilly but it is also extremely versatile. You can acheive a myriad of musical styles with the right tone and pickup settings. There are four black, plastic knobs. Each pickup has a tone and volume control. The toggle switch allows you to select the neck, bridge or both pickups. The pots and toggle are clean sounding and work great.
